Biography
Debra Darmata holds a Master's degree in clinical psychology from Roosevelt University - Chicago, where she focused on treating eating disorders and sexual trauma. She is currently the Adult Suicide Prevention Coordinator at the Oregon Health Authority (OHA), a role in which she facilitated the development of the first Oregon Adult Suicide Intervention and Prevention Plan. Prior to her work at OHA, Ms. Darmata served as the Washington County Suicide Prevention Coordinator for over two years. She also spent 11 years as the Operations Manager for the Student Wellness Alcohol Prevention Program at New Mexico State University, where suicide prevention was a significant part of her responsibilities, including coordinating the development and management of a warm line. Additionally, Ms. Darmata was the Director of Rehabilitative Services for the state hospital in New Mexico. She is a trainer for ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training) and QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer), demonstrating her expertise and commitment to suicide prevention efforts.
