About This Event

Learn how to empower your postpartum patients as they return to exercise. Movement safety during the first 6 weeks will be discussed, along with how to build the foundational strategies for movement through breathwork and core activation. She discusses the guidelines and literature surrounding returning to running and strength training postpartum. This course will review two case studies and teach you to create an at-home rEMOM for a postpartum patient.

Learning Outcomes: 1. Learn about the fourth trimester and how to slowly incorporate early movement. 2. Understand the importance of breathwork and bracing the core, while learning about common postpartum core conditions. 3. Identify pelvic floor symptoms associated with common conditions, such as urinary incontinence and pelvic organ prolapse. 4. Learn how to support and manage pelvic floor concerns when returning to strength training. 5. Learn how to support and manage pelvic floor concerns when returning to high impact exercise, such as running.

Module One: The Fourth Trimester, The Foundation (Breathwork, Core Activation, Early Postpartum Movements, DRA Assessment & Recovery) Module Two: Symptoms (Urinary Incontinence, Pelvic Organ Prolapse), Returning to Strength Training (Breath and Bracing, Pressure Management, Progressions, rEMOM Creation, Case Study) Module Three: Returning to Endurance (Impact vs Non-Impact, Running, Jumping, rEMOM Creation, Case Study)

Learning Objectives

  • Understand the physiological changes of the fourth trimester and implement safe, progressive early movement strategies within the first 6 weeks postpartum
  • Assess and address diastasis recti abdominis (DRA) using proper evaluation techniques and evidence-based recovery protocols
  • Master breathwork and core bracing techniques to establish foundational movement patterns and manage intra-abdominal pressure
  • Recognize, assess, and differentiate pelvic floor dysfunction symptoms including urinary incontinence and pelvic organ prolapse
  • Design and progress safe return-to-strength-training protocols that support pelvic floor integrity while building patient confidence
  • Create individualized return-to-running and high-impact exercise progressions using rEMOM (Repeat Every Minute On the Minute) protocols
  • Apply evidence-based guidelines to clinical decision-making through case study analysis and at-home exercise program development
