About This Event

This course is specifically crafted for non-physician staff members working in chiropractic offices. The program includes 14 classes totaling approximately 16 hours of training designed to enhance the capabilities of staff within chiropractic practices. Staff subscribers from ICS General Membership can access this program free of charge. The curriculum covers essential topics including basic anatomy, compliance issues, social media practices, billing fundamentals, Medicare insights, and HIPAA training. Participants benefit from a structured virtual classroom setting, allowing flexibility to complete the courses at their convenience and to download handouts for reference. Upon completion, attendees receive a Certificate of Completion, signifying their newly acquired knowledge suitable for their roles in chiropractic care. Notably, this program does not offer CME credits for physicians, as it focuses on equipping support staff with vital skills to succeed in their positions.

Dr. Kris Tohtz graduated magna cum laude from the National University of Health Sciences in April 2001. While attending chiropractic school, she also began pursuing a Diplomate in Acupuncture, which she earned from the American Chiropractic Association in August 2009. After completing two supervised medical internships in Beijing and Hangzhou, China, Dr. Tohtz pursued advanced studies, obtaining her Master of Science in Acupuncture (MSAc) from the National University of Health Sciences, graduating summa cum laude in August 2014. Dr. Tohtz is a registered yoga instructor, a trained postpartum doula, and holds advanced certification in Pregnancy and Pediatric Care through the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association. For eight years, she served as the Diplomate Educational Co-Coordinator for the ACA Pediatrics Council, an effort for which she was named Pediatric Chiropractor of the Year in 2023. She was awarded her Pediatric Diplomate in 2025. Additionally, Dr. Tohtz is a certified practitioner in the McKenzie Method of Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy. She holds a specialty teaching certificate from the Association of College and University Educators (ACUE) and a certification in Functional Medicine from the Institute for Functional Medicine (IFM). She teaches continuing education courses to healthcare practitioners on topics including acupuncture, dry needling, pregnancy, pediatric care, and functional medicine. Dr. Tohtz has served the ACA Acupuncture Council in all leadership roles over a span of more than 10 years and was a member of the Illinois Department of Professional Regulation's Acupuncture Board for six years. With over 24 years of clinical experience, Dr. Tohtz is the owner and lead clinician at Serenity Family Wellness, a managing partner at Fusion Care, LLC, and a practicing Chiropractic Physician and Acupuncturist with the Veterans Administration in Port St. Lucie, Florida. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, gardening, cooking, and spending time with her husband and dog.

Dr. Conway’s unique dual-professional degrees as a chiropractor and attorney enable him to fulfill his passion of protecting and enhancing the chiropractic profession. An energetic presenter, his very practical Medicare presentations remove fear and provide an easy path for chiropractors to properly document Medicare cases. A second-generation chiropractor whose passion is enhancing and protecting the chiropractic profession. He is CEO of the ChiroLaw law firm and Conway Consulting Group. His law practice consists primarily of health law and government relations with a strong focus on Medicare. He is also a partner in ChiroArmor LLC a chiropractic compliance company. Dr. Conway is the co-founder and executive director of the chiropractic society of Wisconsin, a dynamic growing state association that is changing the dynamics of the chiropractic profession in Wisconsin. Dr. Conway through his work with Dr. Michael Jacklitch, CMS and the Chief Medical Directors from the Medicare Contractors changed the entire Medicare landscape reducing the previous error ratio from the high 90% to the low 20% through the development of a universal national agreement for chiropractic documentation procedures that specifically outlines the required documentation necessary to demonstrate medical necessity of chiropractic care. He provided instruction of these changes to tens of thousands of chiropracrtors as well as MAC claims reviewers to fully understand what documentation should be in the chiropractic records submitted for review of services. Having served as a regulator with the Wisconsin Chiropractic Examining board for nearly a decade he, fully understands the responsibilities of each state board in protecting the public and maintaining the reputation of the chiropractic profession. Dr. Conway served on the NBCE Board of Directors for 8 years and is a current Board member of F4CP. When in full time chiropractic practice his focus included chiropractic occupational health. Obtaining his diplomate in occupational health he assisted many local and national companies with chiropractic ergonomic programs. He was one of the first chiropractors to speak at the national safety congress and has had over 6000 industrial representatives attend his injury prevention programs.
