About This Event
This 15 hour continuing education course covers the symptomology, diagnosing, and treatment of concussions, particularly in the context of motor vehicle injuries. Learning Objectives
- -Identify the pathophysiology of concussions and mild traumatic brain injuries (mTBI), including cellular and neurochemical mechanisms of injury
- -Perform a comprehensive cranial nerve examination and interpret findings relevant to concussion assessment
- -Recognize and differentiate concussion symptoms from other conditions using evidence-based diagnostic criteria
- -Evaluate patients with motor vehicle injury-related concussions and assess injury severity and prognosis
- -Apply safe and effective chiropractic treatment protocols for concussion recovery, including manual therapy and rehabilitation strategies
- -Understand post-concussion syndrome, return-to-activity guidelines, and when to refer for additional medical evaluation
