Active Release Techniques (ART): Upper Extremity Level 1
About This Event
Active Release Techniques (ART) Upper Extremity Level 1 is a hands-on, evidence-based course designed to develop clinical competency in detecting and treating soft-tissue anomalies throughout the upper extremity. This course provides practical instruction on evaluating and treating the hands, wrists, forearms, arms, shoulders, and associated musculature and connective tissues. Participants will learn systematic palpation methods to identify adhesions and dysfunctional patterns, master proper treatment protocols with appropriate pressure and patient positioning, and integrate ART into comprehensive upper extremity care. Through demonstration and supervised practice, students will develop the confidence and skill necessary to effectively incorporate these techniques into clinical practice for managing common conditions such as repetitive strain injuries, tendinopathy, and postural dysfunction.
Learning Objectives
- •Identify and palpate common soft-tissue dysfunctions and adhesions in the upper extremity using ART assessment protocols
- •Apply proper ART treatment techniques to the hands, wrists, forearms, and arms with appropriate pressure and patient positioning
- •Evaluate shoulder complex structures and recognize functional limitations related to myofascial restrictions
- •Develop treatment plans that integrate ART with other chiropractic modalities for upper extremity conditions
- •Understand the evidence supporting ART for common conditions such as repetitive strain injuries, carpal tunnel syndrome, and shoulder impingement
- •Demonstrate safe and effective patient communication and informed consent procedures during ART treatment
