About This Event
This 15-hour course focuses on the assessment and rehabilitation of vertical and torsional eye movements critical for visual-vestibular integration. Clinicians will explore the neuroanatomy and physiology of vertical gaze, optokinetics, the vestibular system, and related brain structures involved in dizziness and visual motion intolerance. Through hands-on applications, virtual reality tools, and bedside testing techniques, participants will gain the skills to manage patients with conditions such as PPPD, VID, MdDS, and post-concussion syndromes.
Learning Objectives
- -Assess and differentiate vertical and torsional eye movement disorders using clinical examination techniques and bedside testing protocols
- -Explain the neuroanatomical pathways and physiological mechanisms underlying vertical gaze control, optokinetic reflexes, and vestibular-ocular integration
- -Identify and diagnose visual-vestibular conditions including Persistent Postural-Perceptual Dizziness (PPPD), Vestibular-Induced Dizziness (VID), Mal de Debarquement Syndrome (MdDS), and post-concussion visual-vestibular dysfunction
- -Design and implement evidence-based rehabilitation protocols for vertical and torsional eye movement disorders using both traditional and virtual reality-based interventions
- -Apply hands-on clinical techniques to manage visual motion intolerance and dizziness in patients with compromised visual-vestibular integration
- -Integrate virtual reality assessment and training tools into clinical practice to enhance patient outcomes
