Friday Keynote - Postural Neurology: A Neurologic Approach to Postural Correction for Chiropractic Practice
About This Event
This keynote session, "Postural Neurology: A Neurologic Approach to Postural Correction for Chiropractic Practice," offers an evidence-based and neurologic perspective on postural correction. It addresses the significant public health need for such interventions, citing recent research indicating a high prevalence of moderate to severe forward head posture in school-aged children. The session aims to equip chiropractors with practical, neurologic, and evidence-based solutions for addressing these postural issues.
Attendees will delve into the intricate neurology of the posture system. This includes understanding the critical roles of the visual system in head posture and orientation, the vestibular system in maintaining postural stability, and the sensory and motor cortex in sensorimotor integration. The curriculum also features a comprehensive review of research demonstrating how various postural distortion patterns can impact overall neurologic function.
For direct clinical application, participants will be trained in brain-based posture assessments and correction protocols. These tools are designed to enable practitioners to effectively detect, analyze, and correct postural distortion patterns in their patients. The session is led by Dr. Krista Burns, cofounder of The American Posture Institute, who is recognized for her extensive expertise with multiple doctorates and numerous certifications in posture, neurology, ergonomics, and human function.
