Neuroimaging in Headache Disorders

This comprehensive course examines the role of neuroimaging in the diagnosis and management of headache disorders. Participants will explore multiple imaging modalities including magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance angiography (MRA), and computed tomography angiography (CTA), understanding their respective strengths, limitations, and appropriate clinical applications. The course emphasizes evidence-based imaging protocols and when imaging is clinically indicated versus unnecessary. Attendees will develop skills in interpreting common and atypical neuroimaging findings in primary headache disorders (migraine, tension-type, cluster) as well as identifying imaging markers of secondary headache causes such as structural abnormalities, vascular lesions, and intracranial pathology. The curriculum bridges the gap between imaging technology and practical clinical decision-making, enabling clinicians to enhance diagnostic confidence and patient outcomes.
