Navigating the Maze: Understanding Radiculopathy, Discopathy, Stenosis, and Myelopathy in Chiropractic Care
About This Event
This two-hour course is designed to help Doctors of Chiropractic confidently diagnose and manage complex spine-related conditions commonly encountered in clinical practice. With a focus on radiculopathy, discopathy, spinal stenosis, and myelopathy, participants will develop a deeper understanding of these often-overlapping conditions that can present with confusing and evolving neurological symptoms. Emphasis will be placed on differential diagnosis, neurologic red flags, and evidence-informed pathways for chiropractic intervention.Through lecture, case-based discussion, and practical clinical frameworks, attendees will learn to identify when conservative care is appropriate and when referral or collaborative care is warranted. This course empowers chiropractors with clarity, clinical tools, and confidence to navigate even the most complex spine and neurologic presentations.
Learning Objectives
- •Differentiate between radiculopathy, discopathy, stenosis, and myelopathy using anatomical, clinical, and imaging findings
- •Perform a systematic neurological examination to identify red flags and contraindications to chiropractic care
- •Apply evidence-informed differential diagnosis frameworks to complex spine presentations with overlapping symptoms
- •Establish clinical decision-making criteria for determining when conservative chiropractic management is appropriate versus when referral or collaborative care is necessary
- •Develop patient-centered management plans that integrate chiropractic intervention with appropriate monitoring for progressive neurological compromise
- •Interpret common imaging findings (MRI, CT, X-ray) and correlate them with clinical presentation and neurological findings
