Muscle Testing
About This Event
This class will take you through some muscle testing that you can implement into your practice right away. Muscle testing is a procedure performed by health practitioners as part of a physical evaluation. It helps assess the body's muscles and their connections to the brain through the nervous system. As an important part of a comprehensive physical evaluation, muscle testing can help discover the cause of a particular injury or disability. It can also quickly assist in measuring the effectiveness of specific treatments.
Learning Objectives
- •Understand the anatomical and neurological basis of muscle testing and its role in assessing neuromuscular function
- •Perform and interpret manual muscle testing (MMT) using standardized grading scales (0-5 scale)
- •Identify muscle weakness patterns and correlate findings with specific nerve root and spinal levels
- •Apply muscle testing techniques to assess common musculoskeletal injuries and dysfunctions in clinical practice
- •Recognize the limitations of muscle testing and determine when additional diagnostic imaging or referral is warranted
- •Develop proficiency in educating patients about muscle testing findings and treatment recommendations
