A study examining MSK US utilization between 2003 and 2015 reported a 347% increase in volume across various healthcare disciplines, including medicine, chiropractic, physical therapy, and podiatry. The growing adoption of MSK ultrasound can be attributed to its portability, superior spatial resolution for superficial soft-tissue structures compared with magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), real-time dynamic assessment capabilities, and absence of ionizing radiation. Collectively, these attributes position MSK ultrasound as a transformative diagnostic modality that enhances clinical decision-making and patient care across diverse healthcare settings.
