MPI Integration: Lower
About This Event
This program prepares chiropractors to develop and implement a comprehensive examination protocol for the lower spine and pelvis. Participants will learn to utilize multiple assessment methodologies including static and dynamic palpation of spinal joints and surrounding soft tissues, postural analysis, gait observation, and functional testing. The integration of these examination techniques enables clinicians to identify biomechanical dysfunctions, movement compensations, and regional restrictions that may contribute to lower back pain and dysfunction. Emphasis is placed on building a systematic, evidence-informed approach to lower spine examination that supports accurate diagnosis and guides appropriate clinical management decisions.
Learning Objectives
- -Perform and interpret static palpation techniques to identify spinal joint restrictions and misalignments in the lumbar and sacroiliac regions
- -Execute dynamic palpation assessments to evaluate segmental mobility and identify hypomobile or hypermobile segments
- -Conduct comprehensive postural analysis including assessment of pelvic tilt, lumbar lordosis, and lower extremity alignment
- -Perform evidence-based gait analysis to identify movement compensations and lower kinetic chain dysfunctions
- -Integrate functional testing (straight leg raise, hip mobility, core stability) into the comprehensive spinal examination
- -Develop a systematic examination protocol that combines static, dynamic, postural, gait, and functional findings for clinical decision-making
- -Document and communicate palpation findings and functional test results effectively for treatment planning
