IAFNR Functional Neurology Weekend 2: The Brainstem & Vestibular System: Stabilizing Life

Weekend 2 focuses on the Brainstem and the Vestibular System. Participants will learn to identify major anatomical regions of the brainstem, localize dysfunction, explain vestibular system functions, and apply rehabilitation principles.

• •Identify and locate major anatomical regions of the brainstem (midbrain, pons, medulla) and their respective functional divisions
• •Assess brainstem dysfunction through clinical examination techniques and correlate findings to patient presentations
• •Explain the anatomy and physiology of the vestibular system, including the role of the semicircular canals, utricle, and saccule
• •Differentiate between central and peripheral vestibular disorders and their clinical presentations
• •Apply evidence-based vestibular rehabilitation principles and exercises to stabilize patient balance and reduce dizziness
• •Integrate brainstem and vestibular assessment findings into functional neurology case management
