About This Event

This presentation focuses on the critical role of imaging studies in conjunction with a focused history and physical examination for accurate diagnosis and subsequent treatment of patients. Utilizing a case-based approach, the course will highlight frequently missed, overlooked, or misdiagnosed conditions affecting the spine and extremities. Clinical cases will serve as the foundation to explore when and what specific diagnostic imaging studies yield the most appropriate outcomes, aiming to prevent long-term pain and disability that can arise from delayed or incorrect diagnoses and management.

Dr. Laura A. Swingen embarked on her chiropractic profession after graduating from the University of Oregon in 1986 and Western States Chiropractic College in 1990. She gained experience as an associate doctor, learning the NUCCA technique, before joining Sunset Chiropractic Clinic in 1991, where she has served thousands of patients over her more than 34-year career. Dr. Swingen is an active member of the chiropractic community, holding the presidency of the Functional Chiropractic Council within the Oregon Chiropractic Association. Her commitment to ongoing education includes over 600 hours of training in the treatment of concussion and mild traumatic brain injury. Dr. Swingen has contributed to peer-reviewed literature, publishing research on neurological rehabilitation in Integrative Medicine: A Clinician's Journal (April/May 2017), and was honored as Chiropractor of the Year in 2023 by the Oregon Chiropractic Association.
