About This Event
Learn about the duties required of a chiropractor working with athletes. This course is designed to explore the many different areas of knowledge and skills that a Doctor of Chiropractic should be acquainted with when working in the sporting world. Topics include team doctor’s duties, management of extremity injury, emergency treatment of the injured athlete, environmental concerns and medical legal issues in sport.
Learning Objectives
- •Identify and describe the key responsibilities and scope of practice for a chiropractor serving as a team doctor
- •Apply evidence-based protocols for the acute management and on-field treatment of common athletic injuries
- •Evaluate and manage extremity injuries specific to various sports using appropriate assessment and treatment techniques
- •Develop emergency response procedures and protocols for acute injuries in a sporting environment
- •Analyze environmental factors and venue-related considerations that impact athlete safety and performance
- •Navigate medical-legal and liability issues relevant to team physician practice, including documentation and informed consent
- •Establish effective communication and collaboration strategies with other healthcare providers on the sports medicine team
