About This Event

With the increasing number of baby boomers reaching Medicare age, the "Pig in the Python" demographic is stretching the existing healthcare system to its limit. Coupled with the chiropractic profession's focus on obtaining Medicare coverage for our full scope of practice, a pro-active approach to our individual and national preparation for that expected geriatric influx is critical.

This course will provide insight into areas chiropractic physicians might wish to explore. From developing relationships in the community to understanding the CMS assessment requirements, from communication with older patients to deciding your role in their care involving co-morbidities and accompanying polypharmacy, it will offer immediate practical take-aways and references and resources for in-depth follow up.

Topics of Discussion:

-Present education/skills/research
-Community involvement (building your base)
-Medicare health assessments and screening tools
-Fall prevention (immediate implementation)
-Barriers to older patients seeking care
-Communication with older patients
-Getting paid/codes
-Common geriatric comorbidities
-Common geriatric labs
-Masquerading Diseases (to include pharmaceutical myotoxicity)

Target Audience: Chiropractors
