Dr. Christopher L. Smoley is a highly accomplished chiropractor and a board-certified diagnostic imaging specialist, holding the esteemed Diplomat status with the American Chiropractic Board of Radiology (DACBR). He graduated Summa Cum Laude from Palmer Chiropractic College, Davenport Campus, in 2012, where he also earned the distinction of Salutatorian of his graduating class. Following his chiropractic degree, Dr. Smoley completed a rigorous diagnostic imaging residency at Parker University in Dallas, Texas, successfully passing his board examinations in 2015 to achieve his DACBR credential. Throughout his career, Dr. Smoley has been a dedicated educator and leader in chiropractic academia. He has served as a faculty member at prominent institutions including Parker University, D'Youville College, Palmer College, and currently, Northwestern Health Sciences University, where he holds the position of Assistant Professor and Chair of the Radiology Department. His commitment to educational excellence was recognized with multiple Faculty of the Year awards at D'Youville College and the Distinguished Educator of the Year award at Parker University. He also served as the Executive Director of the Chiropractic Program at D'Youville College, where he played a pivotal role in curriculum development and accreditation efforts. Dr. Smoley is a respected figure within the American Chiropractic Board of Radiology (ACBR), having been nominated and appointed to the board, where he is currently serving his second term as Vice-President. His contributions extend to research, notably as the lead author of a verification study published in the Journal of the Canadian Chiropractic Association (JCCA) on the sonographic evaluation of spondylolysis. This groundbreaking research demonstrated the feasibility of diagnostic ultrasound for detecting L5 pars interarticularis fractures, laying crucial groundwork for future studies in chiropractic diagnostic imaging. He also contributes as a reviewer for publications such as Chiropractic and Manual Therapies, The Journal of Chiropractic Education, and Osmosis.org, and provides part-time musculoskeletal imaging interpretations for diagnostic facilities.
