About This Event

This second-hour module builds upon the foundational MRI course by advancing the Chiropractor's ability to order, interpret, and clinically apply advanced imaging within spine and musculoskeletal practice. Dr. Adam Rodnick, Dr. Alex Rodnick, and Dr. Jeffrey Lupo expand on core MRI principles and move into deeper neuroradiologic interpretation of spinal pathology. Topics include detailed assessment of disc pathologies, differentiation of spinal vs. neural canal stenosis, recognition and clinical relevance of Modic endplate changes, and evaluation of multifidus muscle changes visible on advanced imaging. Participants will also learn how CT imaging can be used to distinguish hard (calcified) disc pathology from soft disc herniations, improving diagnostic accuracy and treatment planning. The course integrates imaging physics with real-world application, helping providers correlate radiologic findings with clinical presentation and improve medical necessity documentation. This module is designed for chiropractors who already possess a basic understanding of MRI interpretation and want to elevate their imaging literacy to a more advanced, neuroradiology-informed level for daily practice.

Learning Objectives

  • Interpret advanced MRI sequences to assess disc pathology, including internal disc disruption, annular tears, and nucleus pulposus changes
  • Differentiate between spinal canal stenosis and neural foraminal stenosis, and correlate findings with clinical symptomatology
  • Recognize and explain the clinical significance of Modic endplate changes (Types 1, 2, and 3) in chronic spine pathology
  • Evaluate multifidus muscle atrophy and fatty infiltration on MRI and understand implications for core stability and treatment planning
  • Utilize CT imaging to distinguish calcified disc herniations from soft disc pathology and optimize diagnostic accuracy
  • Document imaging findings with appropriate medical necessity language to support clinical decision-making and treatment justification
  • Integrate neuroradiologic findings with patient presentation to develop evidence-based treatment strategies
