2021-OTC: Over the Counter (OTC) Meds

This OVER THE COUNTER (OTC) Meds Course meets the OBCE Requirement for Year 1 DC -- renewal in Oregon. It is a comprehensive course on a large list of OTC meds including side effects and contraindications. The course fulfills the 4 CE hours required of Year 1 DCs but is also available for general CE to other providers as well.

• •Identify common over-the-counter medications and their primary therapeutic classifications
• •Explain the mechanisms of action for major OTC drug categories including analgesics, antihistamines, decongestants, and gastrointestinal agents
• •Recognize significant drug interactions and contraindications relevant to chiropractic patient populations
• •Assess adverse effects and side effect profiles to inform patient counseling and care coordination
• •Apply knowledge of OTC medications to clinical decision-making and patient safety in chiropractic practice
• •Understand labeling requirements and FDA regulations governing over-the-counter medications
