12 Weeks to an Evidence-based Practice
About This Event
Implementation of evidence-based practice EBP is regarded as core competence to improve healthcare quality. The term "evidence-based medicine" is relatively new. Investigators from McMaster''s University began using the term during the 1990s. EBM was defined as "a systemic approach to analyze published research as the basis of clinical decision making. The term has now come to be defined as "the conscious, explicit and judicious use of the best current evidence in making decisions about the individual patients", as was introduced about ten years ago. This course will address several issues associated with implementing evidence-based practices to include ethics, policies, quality measures, coding, active care planning, smoking cessation and understanding the principles of the patient centered medical home to address the Triple Aim. The Triple Aim includes reducing cost of care, increasing patient satisfaction and health outcomes.
