110th KAC Annual Convention | Top 10 Reasons for Fatigue: Causes and Treatment with Dr. Cindy Howard
About This Event
Fatigue is a common symptom reported by most patients at some point in their lives. While obvious causes like anemia, lack of sleep, or hypothyroidism are often considered, many less obvious reasons are commonly missed. A thorough history and data collection can reveal other areas where patients may be suffering, yet not receiving the attention or treatment needed to resolve their fatigue. This program will explore ten key areas to consider for restoring energy.
Physicians will gain knowledge about the most common causes of fatigue in their patients, learn to identify relevant symptoms and red flags indicating different causative factors, and understand how to test for and implement effective care protocols for these common causes of fatigue.
Learning Objectives
- -Identify and differentiate between the 10 most common causes of fatigue in clinical practice, including both obvious and frequently overlooked etiologies
- -Recognize key clinical symptoms and red flags associated with specific fatigue-causing conditions to guide differential diagnosis
- -Understand the role of comprehensive history-taking and appropriate data collection in uncovering hidden causes of patient fatigue
- -Apply evidence-based testing protocols to screen for nutritional deficiencies, metabolic disorders, sleep disturbances, and other systemic causes
- -Develop and implement practical treatment and management strategies tailored to identified causative factors
- -Enhance patient outcomes by addressing root causes of fatigue rather than treating symptoms alone
