110th KAC Annual Convention | Sports Medicine Radiology: A Case-based Approach for Chiropractors with Dr. Beverly Harger
About This Event
This 2-hour case-based course is designed for chiropractors who manage athletes and active individuals across all competitive levels. Through real clinical scenarios, attendees will enhance their ability to integrate radiologic findings with functional biomechanics, manual therapy planning, and evidence-informed return-to-play decision-making. The course emphasizes subtle imaging clues that impact chiropractic management, including identifying when musculoskeletal injuries are safe to treat conservatively and when advanced imaging, co-management, or referral is warranted. Participants will review X-ray, MRI, CT, and ultrasound applications relevant to sports injuries of the spine and extremities, including stress injuries, ligamentous instability, cartilage lesions, and high-risk fracture patterns. This course supports improved diagnostic confidence, greater safety, and optimized sports performance outcomes.
Learning Objectives
- •Interpret X-ray, MRI, CT, and ultrasound imaging to identify sports-related injuries of the spine and extremities with clinical confidence
- •Recognize subtle radiologic findings that alter chiropractic management decisions and treatment planning
- •Distinguish between injuries appropriate for conservative chiropractic care versus those requiring referral, advanced imaging, or co-management
- •Integrate radiologic findings with functional biomechanics assessment to optimize return-to-play decision-making
- •Identify high-risk fracture patterns, stress injuries, ligamentous instability, and cartilage lesions relevant to athletic populations
- •Apply evidence-informed protocols to safely manage athletes and active individuals across competitive levels
