About This Event
Magnetic Resonance Imaging is frequently encountered in chiropractic practice. This course will review MRI of the cervical spine to aid chiropractors in the interpretation of MR images and reports. Specific topics to be covered include MR imaging of disc pathology, spinal degeneration, and soft tissue pathology. Clinical and imaging findings indicating a need for advanced imaging will also be reviewed.Attendees will gain further knowledge of the interpretation of MRI studies and reports. Attendees will also review clinical findings warranting MR imaging.
Learning Objectives
- •Interpret common MRI findings of the lumbar spine including disc herniation, bulging discs, and annular tears
- •Identify imaging characteristics of spinal degeneration and degenerative disc disease on lumbar MRI
- •Recognize soft tissue pathology including ligamentous injuries, muscle strain, and facet joint abnormalities
- •Differentiate between clinically significant and incidental MRI findings
- •Apply clinical correlation strategies to integrate MRI findings with patient presentation and physical examination
- •Determine appropriate indications for advanced imaging and identify red flags necessitating referral
- •Review MRI report terminology and communicate effectively with radiologists regarding clinical concerns
